Car Strikes Young Woman on Empire Blvd.

A young Jewish woman was stuck by a car at the intersection of Empire Blvd. and Albany Ave. today at around 11:30am.

Witnesses said the woman was stuck with such force she rolled up to the car’s windshield and was then thrown in the opposite direction. The strength of the impact left the woman lying on the ground unconscious.

Hatzalah was immediately called by a bystander; they arrived shortly thereafter and began administering first aid.

As she was being treated, the woman regained consciousness, but she was dazed and disoriented – not knowing where she was.

Hatzalah rushed her to Kings County Hospital, where she received further treatment.

The woman suffered head trauma and likely several fractures, but despite the severity of the impact, not of her injuries were life threatening, B”H.

In cases such as this, you worry about a concussion which can have both short run and long run effects.G-d willing, she did not get a concussion.

  • Love the way nothing ever changes here

So much is happening in this beleaguered community that it’s now open to question whether the driver was ‘simply’ reckless, speeding round a corner without bothering to look for crossing pedestrians – as is the usual way in this great free for all of wild animals, or if it was intentional. And it’s a comfort to know that the driver is probably already back in the seat and that there are thousands more exactly like him. Lately, there is a frightening distortion of good and bad which results in the occasional good person who makes a mistake being treated as severely as the law will allow while the real criminal is set free in a few hours. There is a huge difference between a tragic mistake made by a good human being- and people who are consistently recklessness or intentionally maliciousness (both of which are about the same). The latter seems to be rearing its ugly head several times a day now. They hide behind their color all the time and when they act like animals and are therefore called animals, they say it’s because of their color- like that excuses them from justice. I don’t buy that. The only language reckless or malicious people understand is uncompromising punishment and until that is meted out, they are not going to change. Sorry.

What does that have to do with this accident and the fact that the driver was a fellow Jew?

  • Shape Up

Attention Crown Heightsers: It’s been waaaay to many accidents and acts of violence within your community in the last while. Let’s try for you (and for that matter all of us) to make a change for the better in even the tinniest way. Like a “Good Morning” to someone who you would normally not say it to. Or “You know you’re right” when you realized you were wrong. Even a smile to someone you know, can be the deed to tip the scale to bring Moshiach Now! Amein Kein Yehi Ratzon.

  • Yingi Bistriski

I happened to be at the scene when the accident occurred. Yingi Bistriski was the first HATZALA memeber to arrive followed by 6-7 other members. Their professionalism is just outstanding. In under 5 minutes they had the situation under control and the patient being rushed off to hospital. All the memebers are working people who dropped everything to save a life. KolHakovod
