  • Educate your kids

It’s not just about the “walk sign”, they must always look around to see if cars are turning.

  • To #1

You are 100% right. That being said, evidently this woman was doing something else while turning or she was driving too fast-otherwise, she would have seen and been able to stop on time. We must educate our childrens to be careful and look all around for cars and at the same time, we need to be careful when we drive!! Kids are crossing from all sides!!!

thank g d that the child will be ok the hatzala is just wonderful group of very caring people BH

  • Driver

Educate the drivers! Most DO NOT heed the “Pedestrian right of way” law! I don’t think they even know what the word “Pedestrian” means.

  • to # 2

Every one looks when they drive especially by a turn, its either 1) the Driver didn’t see, 2) the kid run in to the car (i was there it looked like the girl run in in the middle of the car)

    Really????
The child was crossing when it was walk only when she was in the street already did this woman turn so it is definitely the drivers fault!!!!!
Our children are given clear instructions to cross only on green and look before but drivers are busy on cell phones or just day dreaming!!!!

  • EDUCATE THE DRIVERS

    Do not blame the victim!
While turning on green llight the drivers should be watching the crossings. I myself almost was hit by a young Jewish woman while crossing on green light, She apologized.

whose blaming the kid??? You have to educate your kid for ALL scenarios because it’s impossible for you to educate the entire world.

  • caution

these things happen-they are called an accident.Nobody wants this to happen.maybe the sun was in her eyes, maybe she was distracted.this could happen to any one of us-hashem yishmor-we drive ,we are always rushing, kids in the car, etc.Even without a cell or text, accidents happened before these were an issue.Bh everyone is ok BH BH BH

  • EXHAUSTED

Why was the car (black Toyota) left idling leaving the girl to breath in the harmful exhaust fumes?

    (see first picture)

  • Drivers - be careful!!

The way most drivers drive around Crown Heights is shocking. It would be a good idea if the police cracked down and gave tickets for harmful driving rather than just parking tickets.

I am a frequent pedestrian and I cannot even tell you how hard it is to cross streets here. The cars go whizzing by and do not give pedestrians the right of way.

    Atrocious.

  • Compassion

I am sure the driver feels bad enough lets not make it worse. She likely has kids of her own and feels terrible. If she had been speeding the injuries could have been much worse, so she was probably not going that fast. Not all accidents are preventable, thats why they are called accidents.

I always tell my kids to look both ways etc. but kids are kids and they get distracted.

    to #1 –

why are you blaming the pedestrian – we have the right of way –

cars need to look and learn to wait if anyone, yid or non-yid is in the crosswalk

    • huh?

How did you get from my comment that I am blaming the pedestrian? The point is that you can’t educate the whole world, but at least you can educate your child about different scenarios and about looking out for crazy drivers, etc.

  • wondering

can someone plllllllllllllllls write the hatzolah members on the scene? nice to know who helped?

  • annonymous

Parents must be more responsible and escort their children to school. It is dangerous for a 10 year old little girl to be walking in the streets alone.

  • Friend of victim

That is my friend a girl my class. She is not that stupid. She is a good girl (I hope she’s ok). ::::::((((((((((.

  • Tehilim

Can someone find out her name and kapitel so we can say it. instead of just getting your two minutes to write and feel good about yourself do something positive.

  • i know her

this is something crazy i met her a few months ago! its crazy that something like this happened to her, we need to know her kapital so we can say tehilim for her!!!!

  • Concerned

I am very glad that the girl did not, B”H, sustain any serious injury. However, what is her name for Tehillim?
Where is the Refuah Shelama list itself?
Though wishing noone would need it, unfortuantely, Moshiach is still not here, and so, it is quite unrealistic that nobody in the world is sick… The least we can do is mention their names in our prayers, but for some reason, I cannot find the list of such people on this site. If this can be corrected, I am sure that our combined prayers will be answered, and all the people will, with Hashem’s help get better — Refuah Shelema to all!!!

I agree with you. It’s impossible to cross the streets in Crown heights! I think they should drive slower, and watch where there going!!! Even the walking signs dont help as much, because even if they change to “walk”, the cars still whizz by so fast!!! IMPOSSIBLE!! anyways, i liked what you said, and u make a very good point!! I found this website that has good tips for kids, on how to cross the streets!
    http://www.safeny.ny.gov/Kids/kidswalk.htm
Read!!! very good rules!! This can apply to EVERYONE!!!! even adults!!!!!!!!

  • To #15, I think they are...

Not sure who the guy on the floor with leather jacket is, but the others look like Abie Andrusier, Yingi Bistitzky, Yisroel Lerner, Berel Hasan, Dovi Andrusier, could be more, can’t see with these pictures.

  • Anonymous

Check Dovi A. out, he ran out without socks to help another person. We need more people like him in his selfless devotion!

  • You are all judging like you are G-d.

I”m sorry to ask, but are ANY OF YOU G-d??? can you actually say who was wrong and who was right? NONE of you were there and none of you know what really happened.
how dare you point fingers?? it could happen to any of us! we all need to be safer drivers and safer pedestrians.
BH, all is ok, but our reactions should not be to judge someone else!! our reactions should be to be more aware when driving and walking.

never judge… the next time, it could be you!!

  • to #10

That’s the first thing I noticed: the motor of the black car was still on as the girl was lying on the ground breathing in the toxic fumes ! When there’s an accident : CLOSE YOUR MOTOR !!!

  • Dangerous intersection

Very imp to slow down when driving down Bklyn and turning left onto Montgomery. The sight lines are poor because of the cars parked on Brooklyn. You don’t see anyone crossing till you are turning into the intersection. I have almost hit people there.

  • Attn Everyone:

After all the hack-ah-chaynick comments, understand this: accidents DO happen, it can happen with anyone. Yes, many people are generally careful, however, accidents happen even when one is generally careful. For all you know, the injured could have been in the driver’s blind-spot while turning. That’s why it’s called an ACCIDENT.

  • 2ND TIME

This is the second time this happened to a student in a school. The first incident was a few weeks back to a child in OT.
Please teach your children how to cross.
I am a driver and countless times while I’m driving and the light is green, kids just start crossing without looking at the light, at the sign and both ways.
This is the result of children not knowing how to cross!

    • Mushkie

its ok for us to cross while the light is green-i check both ways a few times if i cross when it is red!!!!!!!!!!! it could be abyones fault-who was the light green for then????

i hope sara gets better quickly!!!!!!!!

  • I know her

Do not say anything bad about her it wasn’t her problem the driver turned right into her

  • to #5

1)please be a little sensitive the girl hurt herself the first thing u could say is that its the girls fault?
2)the girl crossed safely (also the driver) but it was an accident!!! belive me the girl did not run into the car AT ALL!!!!!!

  • to #7 #6 #4

well said!!!!! comment #5 who are you to say? if someone maybe does what their supposed to do and gets hit its her fault?not at all!!!
    definitely the drivers fault!!!

  • To number five

She did not run into the car.i saw with my own eyes. AND WHO CARES????? If she is hurt then it doesn’t matter until better

  • to #39 # 38 and#37
