Elderly Driver Suffers Heart Attack and Crashes
A driver crashed her car in to an electricity pole at the intersection of Maple Street and Kingston Avenue Monday evening after suffering a heart attack while at the wheel. The driver, an elderly black woman, was driving down Maple when for no apparent reason crashed directly into the pole and a relatively slow speed.
Eye witnesses said that the woman did not appear to try to stop, and when they approached the car they noticed she was clutching her chest, and called 911.
EMS transported the driver to Kings County Hospital, and police called the Accident Investigation Squad after the woman was listed in critical condition.
