Man Makes Unexpected Exit from Restroom, Through the Floor
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — While brushing his teeth, a man made a sudden and unexpected exit from his bathroom when the floor gave way, and he suddenly found himself in his buildings basement with the bathroom tiles and floor all scattered around him.
The victim, an African American male in his mid 60’s, took the plunge from his first floor apartment onto an oil tank in the basement and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Firefighters from the local fire houses along with Rescue 2 Company and Collapse Rescue treated the victim until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital.
The incident took place inside of 960 Sterling Place which is on the corner of New York Avenue. The apparent cause of the collapse was due in part to the age of the structure, which was built in 1937, combined with water damage over the years.

Its a CO-OP building, so the victim might have been the owner of the unit… So not all the time is it the landlord who doesn’t up keep the place!!
