Con Edison, New York City’s utility company, co-sponsored a giant menorah in the Riverdale section of the Bronx this year. The company supplied a truck and two workers to give Rabbi Levi Shemtov a ride to the top of the 25-foot structure.

Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale, where Shemtov serves as rabbi, has erected the giant menorah to celebrate the eight days of Chanukkah since 1994. The Chabad Lubavitch sect of Judaism sponsored more than 10,000 large, public menorah displays around the world this year.
