The NYPD is currently investigating after approximately ten shots were fired in a children’s playground in Crown Heights Monday. Crown Heights Shomrim played a crucial role in assisting with the investigation.

According to those familiar with the incident, the shooting took place after dark in the children’s playground located next to the P.S. 221 on Empire Blvd between Troy Ave and Schenectady Ave.

In the rainy weather, initial scans of the playground found no shell casings on site. Crown Heights Shomrim, armed with surveillance footage, were able to locate the casings after a meticulous search, with ESU returning to the scene to collect the evidence.
