Massive Fire At Williamsburg Grill Scrambles Crown Heights Hatzalah

The iconic and much loved eatery on Lee Ave, Grill on Lee, burst into flames Sunday morning, sending flames shooting from the roof and smoke billowing to the heavens. As emergency responders rushed to the fire, Crown Heights Hatzalah was activated to assist, sending an ambulance and crew of EMT’s and Paramedic’s to assist.

The fire was first reported before noon Sunday and firefighters quickly got heavily involved fighting the flames. First a first, then second, third, and fourth alarm were sounded, progressively bringing additional resources to the scene.

Sweeps of the building on fire found no people injured or trapped inside and the firefighters moved out to battle the blaze from outside. Soon after, the first injury was reported, a firefighter who sustained minor injuries and was treated by EMS. A second firefighter was reported injured some twenty minutes later and labeled in critical condition before a fifth alarm, calling even more manpower to the fire, was transmitted.

As part of the draw of additional resources to the scene, Crown Heights Hatzalah was dispatched to Williamsburg with a full crew, including EMT’s and Paramedics.

As of the latest reports, additional firefighter injuries brought the total of injured personnel to ten, making this fire a rather dangerous one.

Reports by ABC7 claimed that the fire initially began in the neighboring chocolate store before spreadin into the restaurant.
