The annual awards ceremony for officers of the NYPD held by the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council took place in Crown Heights Thursday, showing the communities appreciation for their outstanding work.
The ceremony, organized by the CHJCC’s Batya Brandel, awarded placards of appreciation to the Commanding officer of the 71st Precinct, Joseph Hayward, and head of the 71st Precinct Community Affairs Division Sargent Mike Berrata.
“Tonight was wonderful to be honored at the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Awards tonight,” the 71st Precinct wrote on Twitter. “Great to see so many outstanding officers serving our community, So honored!”
Assistant Chief Scott Henderson, the commanding officer of NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn North, attended the event, addressed the assembled officers and community leaders, and thanked the community for recognizing the hard work put in by the officers. He also noted the partnerships fostered between the NYPD and the local community, highlighting the positive outcomes of such work.
Other notable figures at the event included Crown Heights Shomrim Coordinators Gadi Hershkop and Rabbi Mendy Hershkop, along with the executive director of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Rabbi Eli Cohen, and the Executive Vice President for Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Governmental Affairs Chanina Sperlin.
