Light Out On Remsen Ave During Storm As Manhole Explodes

A manhole explosion on Remson Ave put many residents in the dark over shabbos, just the major snow storm ended.
The explosion took place outside a Jewish home around 5:00pm Shabbos day as the city remained blanketed in snow.
The smoking manhole could seen in the homes surveillance camera, while Con Ed’s emergency technicians looked on, as it suddenly explodes into flame, throwing the heavy steal cover into the air.
Thankfully no cars were parked on top of the manhole nor people walking near it.
The power was restored to the effected area by the late evening.
