How Oholei Torah Celebrates Hay Teves

Last week, the students of Oholei Torah celebrated the joyous day of Hay Teves. The halls were filled with the sweet sounds of Students singing “Didan Notzach” very enthusiastically as they enjoyed various exciting, meaningful and educational activities throughout the day.

The Kindergarten students at 667 went on a trip to the Rebbe’s Library and enjoyed a tour given by Rabbi Levin through which they were able to learn more about the precious seforim in an interactive way. On Thursday their Morahs led them in a celebratory farbrengen during which they said Lechaim and every child received their own book in honor of Hay Teves.

The elementary department had the opportunity to take part in a tour of beautiful exhibits filled with artifacts and Seforim of the Rebbeim that were compiled by Rabbi Shmuly Butler. The students were also given the opportunity to win various Seforim that were distributed by the Rebbe throughout the years.

Grades 1-7 took part in a grand Tzivos Hashem promotion ceremony during which talmidim who had advanced since the last ceremony were recognized for their achievements and each boy received a personalized card containing the possuk corresponding to his name and to the Rebbe’s name so that he can say both of them at the end of Shemona Esrah every time he davens, strengthening his hiskashrus to our Rebbe.

Another highlight of the day was that the incredibly talented 8th Grade students prepared a play recounting the riveting story of the Schapiro brothers and performed it for the younger grades.

The Oholei Torah book fair gave students the opportunity to commemorate the day in the way that the Rebbe instructed us to; to go out and buy Seforim, and more importantly, to learn from them and allow them to impact us and empower us to do all that we can to bring Moshiach!

Additionally, a Seforim exchange enabled students to exchange any doubles of Seforim they may have with each other, expanding their own libraries, and their friend’s as well!

The Mechina celebrated Hay Teves with their own full day program and were addressed by Reb Zushe Wilhelm, who spoke about the significance of Hay Teves. He reminded the Bochurim about the importance of caring for the Seforim and showing them respect by always keeping them clean and returning them to the shelves when they are finished with them.
