UPDATED: Major Fire Blazing Through Crown Heights Apartment Building

Firefighters are fighting a major blaze in Crown Heights Monday evening, with multiple alarms ongoing.

The fire was reported just minutes before 6:00pm at the corner apartment building at 437 Kingston Ave on the corner of Empire Blvd.

The first responding firefighters reported the fire in the ceiling of a top floor apartment, whose occupants had thankfully managed to evacuate safely.

Calls for additional manpower were made as the fire reached a second alarm.

The fire is currently ongoing, and updates will be made as information becomes available.

Update 6:57pm: A report of a person who passed away has been given by the FDNY units on scene. Hatzalah has been dispatched as well for a person down on the street.

Update 8:00pm: Report of A person having passed away was unfounded. Was found to be a miscommunication.
