Overnight Transformer Fire Has Overhead Wires Burning On Midwood and New York

A transformer fire on Midwood Street and New York Ave made for a spectacle when the flames spread to the overhead wires, dripping sparks and glowing with fire.

The fire was first reported at approximately 10:40pm Monday night, sending smoke wafting across the block and bringing the neighbors out into the streets. Overhead power and phone cables also caught, dripping sparks and making for a riveting scene.

The FDNY quickly responded to the fire and extinguished it.
