Bring Dani Home From Prison in Turkey! Save a Life, Help Bring Him Home to Israel
Boruch HaShem, Dani is temporarily out of prison in Turkey! He just arrived in Istanbul!
Our organization was successful in getting Dani out of prison and into private housing pending Turkish authority permission to leave the country and get back to Israel! Please help cover the costs to pay for Dani’s upkeep while awaiting final approval to go back to Israel. Dani comes from a frum family who are so thrilled with the good news – but they are unable to cover the cost of Dani’s upkeep while in Turkey.
Baruch Matir Asurim is said FIVE times every single day! Please take on this z’chus to be a part of this awesome Mitzvah!
Dani, 34, is an frum Israeli citizen of Ethiopian descent. During a layover in Istanbul Airport, Turkey in January of 2019, he was arrested for possession of 2 ounces of khat leaves (pronounced “gat”). Khat, used in Ethiopian/Yemenite culture in celebrations (it is chewed, not smoked) is Legal in most countries – including Israel. Unbeknownst to Dani, it is not legal in Turkey and he was sentenced to an astounding 10 years in prison, which is life-threatening for Dani, even though he had it solely for his personal use as partially evidenced by the fact that he had such a small amount of leaves and that they were still attached to their branches.
Due to Coivid-19 he is temporarily released for 1-3 months but must remain in Turkey.
The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and L’taken are working very hard to have him transferred to Israel pursuant to international treaties.
We even have reason to be hopeful for an early release.
Please take on this z’chus to be a part of this awesome Mitzvah. Every dollar goes directly to help Dani.
