The lighting of “Largest Menorah in Brooklyn” on the sixth night of Chanukah took place Tuesday night honoring the life-saving work of Hatzalah and Dr. Bushra Mina in the fight against COVID-19.
The lighting took place at the Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, and is a project of ChabadinBrooklyn’s Rabbi Shimon Hecht in coordination with Chabad of Park Slope.
The flames were lit by Crown Heights Hatzalah Coordinator Yossi Friedman, who was hoisted up in a mobile lift to reach the gigantic Menorah.
Honored and in attendance at the lighting was Lenox Hill chief of pulmonary medicine, Dr. Bushra Mina, who was recognized Tuesday for his work in the fight against COVID-19.
“Was nice to see Dr. Bushra Mina (head pulmonologist at Lenox Hill Hospital) again,” wrote Crown Heights Hatzalah EMT Yitzy Goldberg in a social media post. “Last time we spoke I was in hospital on oxygen.. was able to thank him for his wonderful care…, and helping me and many others recover from covid.”
The event included live music, jelly doughnuts, and gifts for the children in attendance.
