The speakers at the event were Rabbi Wagner – the Rosh yeshiva, Rabbi Shur – the executive director, and some businessmen.

“The Friday Mivtzoim campaign is truly phenomenal, it causes a greater Jewish awareness in the city, and it definitely makes our Fridays that much more meaningful, when the Bochurim visit us,” said Harvey Kalles from Harvey Kalles Real Estate, who spoke at the dinner.

Each Friday over 150 Bochurim spread out to 78 routes covering vast portions of the city.

An entertaining video presentation was also shown reflecting the activities of the Bochurim throughout the year on their Mivtzoim and outreach campaigns.

Some constructive critisizem: The video is very nice. But it gives an impression that the extra-curicular activites are the main goal in the Yeshiva but the learning and Davening is secondary.
This should not be the case.

  • Ex-YLT Boy

As a former bocher of YLT, I have to say Kol Hakavod!! The focus of mivtzoim in YLT only increases the learning.

  • yossi

chaim, just the opposite! in the beginning of the video you see the zal packed with bochurim learning until the last minute!

  • to chaim

i think the idae of showing mostly the outreach part was to show that the ppl (buss. men ) at the dinner the outreach that they do

  • proud and impressed

Wow! what an amazing thing. and a beautiful video too! kol hakovod Toronto Shluchim!

  • Moshe

I think Chaim has a point. The impression that this video gives is of a Tzach organization not a Yeshiva where one learns Nigla and Chasidus, The video does not even show one Rosh Yeshiva or Magid Shiur giving a Shiur or Bochurim sitting and davening or Kuchuig in learing (which I’m sure they do). Check out othher video presentations from other Yeshivos and you’ll see what I mean

great video and wonderful stuff i loved it. You guys are doing a great job in toronto.

  • to chaim and moshe

the piont of this video was not to show how bochurim in toronto learn it was strictly about mivtzoim its amazing how people look for every stupid little thing to make some sort of machlokes and then we wonder why theres so much machlokes in lubavitch if the yeshiva wanted to give out a video to show what its like there im sure you would see plenty of learning and shiurim

  • very nice video

    Great Video!

    I really enjoyed it.

and by the way, i think the video was great, even without the learning, like michal, yossi and ex-ylt wrote, the video had it’s purpose: to show the mivtzoim that the bochurim do.

plus, the video didn’t show the bochurim eating lunch, or playing ball, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t serve them meals, or that they don’t play ball.

additionally, i don’t think anyone will appreciate watching more than a few seconds of learning, even from many different angles.

and what’s the whole Discussion about anyway, they DID show learning on the video, both in the beginning AND the end.

i also know that toronto yeshivah is one of the best out there, and they learn, daven the way a lubavitcher yeshivah should.

i think every yeshivah can take ylt as an example!

  • MIVTZOYIM

this was shown at a MIVTZOYIM EVENT.
    it’s not a yeshiva advertisement.

  • bochur

    to Chaim & Moshe,
the video was shown at a dinner for Balai Batim that the bochurim visit on Mivtzoim, hence the reason for it showing the Mivtzoim aspect of the Yeshivah. it wasnt a fundraiser for the Yeshivah which would then focus on the main aspects of Yeshivah. and im sure at the event it was mentioned by more then one person that this is all done after Seder, and theat the main focus of the Bochurim is learning etc.

    to the Shluchim and Bochurim,
very nice!!! keep up the good work. i hope the event was as nice as the video.
