Menorah Parade Lights Up Queens
The New York City Borough of Queens was greeted by a Grand Car Menorah Parade, which lit up the streets, spreading the light and message of Chanukah to all of its residents.
The parade, which took place Monday evening, is the 3rd Car Menorah Parade arranged by Yeshivas T.T. Lubavitch of Queens, together with neighboring Shluchim and the local Jewish communities. It was directed by the Yeshiva’s Menahel, Rabbi Mendel Scharf and organized by some of the Yeshiva’s alumni Shluchim, Rabbis Yoel Vogel, Levi Paul and Hatomim Shmulik Segal.
Over 50 vehicles with Car Menorahs, as well as Mitzvah Tanks, paraded through the main streets of Central Queens, including Queens Blvd, 108th Street, Main Street, and Union Turnpike. The parade culminated with a public Menorah Lightning, at Federoff Triangle led by Rabbi Eli Blokh, Shliach of Rego Park, and was attended by Council Member Karen Koslowitz.
After the parade, the Bochurim hit the streets, handing out menorahs, as well as visiting locals at home, continuing in spreading the joy of Chanukah.
The Parade caught the attention of thousands of pedestrians and residents of Forest Hills, Rego Park and Kew Garden Hills, being a major Persumei Nissa and a big Kiddush Hashem.
The Parade was escorted by the local Police Departments, who kept the parade smooth and safe.
