It doesn-t matter
If memory serves me, the reason the Rebbe pulled on the wire of the microphone is; the Rebbe used to place his mouth very close the microphone and his voice became distorted. Someone suggested that the wire be tightened so that it could not be pulled forward so that the microphone would be further from the Rebbe. I don’t think the Rebbe was informed of this and that is why he pulled on the wire to try and bring it closer to him. As a result of this the Rebbe leaned forward more during the farbrangen in order to be closer to the microphone.
