There is a city organization that reimburses every stolen bike. Talk to Galina at community counsel, she did it for us.
The city decided that it s much cheaper to reimburse bikes than go after thief. I know that police does absolutely nothing, the circus that they play in order to do nothing then you talk to them is absolutely ridiculous.
The terrible part about this that these bike steeling kids grow into terrible criminals just because they have such a green light from childhood. My son was hit in the face then the bike was taken from him. He was not hurt, but it is not fine with me that city decides that such kids go unpunished just because it is easier for the city to reimburse the bike.
so funny
hahahahahahah
apathy
Last week I saw a guy walking up Albany with a bicycle, and a single spare tire in his hand. I thought it was strange he wasn’t riding the bicycle, and wondered why was he carrying a spare mismatched tire. I felt pretty sure it was a theft in process, but have learned in NYC not to get involved.
