Video: Sneak Peek at ‘Megilas Lester’

Megilas Lester, by Emes Productions, is a full length animated feature film depicting the fictional story of Doniel Lesterovitch (“Lester”), a boy whose imagination turns the Purim story upside down.

Suddenly finding himself at the feast of King Achashverosh, Lester is ordered to summon queen Vashti to the party, but he inadvertently convinces her to go!

With Vashti alive and well, Esther never needs to come to the palace – and that leaves nobody to save the Jews from evil Haman.

The film follows Lester’s hilarious and thrilling adventure as he tries to set his version of the Purim story back on track.

Its sounds cool but I don’t think the kids who are not yet fluent in the real story should watch it. Because the kids will never know what is the real one or not and for them it just as bad as watching a non Jewish movie.

Instead of total shtusim – a REAL children’s AND also adult video should be made based on book Let My Nation Live by Yosef Deutsch.

The book weaves REAL midroshim and chazals to bring Purim ALIVE and tells the story like you never heard it before!

Such a video would be educational, inspiring and worthy – for ALL ages.

  • ughhh

This looks awful. Making animated movies for orthodox kids is not cost effective and is a waste of donor money. These types of films just don’t live up to the current mainstream animation standards of Hollywood films I will definitely not recommend this to any kids. Stick to the french twins DVD’s. Much more educational and entertaining.

  • Put your money where your mouth is!

To all those commenters who think that the studio will take their advice, I hate to break it to y’all but nobody asked you.
They must have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce this video. So unless you plan on actually getting off your lazy behind and doing something about jewish videos/content, I suggest you swallow pride and tip your to the people that are actually making a difference.

  • I think i will buy this

By this being lester’s dream we know this is not the real thing and so do the kids but it does bring the idea that purim is far more than fancy easter baskets and discounted halloween costumes to our crown heights kids . I will watch it before showing it to them however to see that it keeps to its promise.

So in other words if I am not going to get off my high horse and do something about it, and because they spent lots of precious money on it, I’m supposed to expose yiddishe neshomos who don’t know anything to something which will give them a totally false picture???!!!! Where are your priorities???? If something is no good he could spend all the money in the world that doesn’t mean I have to smear my neshama for it. case in point, Most movies nowadays cost millions to produce but are pure avodah zorah for the neshama.

To all of you complaining, how about watching it WITH your kids and explaining it to them?

  • I AGREE WITH...

    EVERYONE!!! (LOL)
But I think I’ll stick with having my son watch The Ten Commandments!

There are people (for example, preschool teachers) with sensitivities to frum and other Jewish kids needs that would probably be happy to help with suggestions for future Jewish/frum videos. . What a shame that so much money went into something that could have potentially added in Yiras Shamayim and Ahavas Hashem in a fun and yet refined way, but unfortunaley does not look like it from this trailer. You can produce something very professional and exciting and yet meaningful and refined.
