Video: Benny Tells All in South Africa Interview
The YouTube channel ‘Jewish Life’ conducted an exclusive interview with the world-renowned Chasidic singer, Benny Friedman.
From the yeshiva world in the Big Apple, to Mumbai on a heart-wrenching yahrzeit, to the light-stoned roads of the Holy Land, sings Benny Friedman.
Now he has arrived to emotional standing ovations in South Africa, embraced by the Jews of Joburg.
Jewish Life’s Dan Chaitowitz met up with the world-renowned singer to chat to him about being a Jewish superstar, after two nights of an exhilarating concert, The Voices, at the Teatro in Montecasino.
Friedman is one of the Jewish world’s fastest rising music stars, and he is not just a singer. His personality on stage imbues his performance and the audience alike with energy and enthusiasm, and his words of Torah and insights into being a Jew makes his already powerful music that much more meaningful.
Friedman was brought out to South Africa by Sydenham Shul and the CSO.

very interesting interview,,
should of been more then 7 min !
speech is the language of the mind
song is the language of the soul.
but
music is a jewish thing? I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that,
there is a Sicha from the Rebbe, (atm I don’t remember from when) but the Rebbe explained concerning music song, etc. a person connects through the song with the singer composer, as when we sing the Rabayims negunim, we connect with them through our soul. Then explained, therefore most Chabad original negunim don’t have lyrics, for its endless reaching deeper and higher levels, thus the language of the soul is music. even if we don’t intrinsically understand that level or hight, but not primarily a jewish thing, its a universal soul language
