Video: Exotic Jewish Communities Around the World
How many countries have you been to in your lifetime? Three, maybe 4? Author Ben Frank can proudly state that he has traveled to 88 countries, visiting many Chabad Houses in the process, and in each one he checks out the Jewish community and how they have survived and thrived.
Ben Frank has been traveling since the early 1950’s. In the 60 years of his travels, he has visited places such as India, Burma, Tahiti, Cuba, Israel and many more.
In this first-person account, Mr. Frank tells stories from his travels, interwoven with anecdotes about the Jews in various communities and details from his own family’s personal history.
Get ready to hear about Jewish life in Communist Cuba, a small community in the island of Tahiti, and a Yiddish city in the heart of Russian Siberia!
Ben Frank is the author of “The Scattered Tribe: Traveling the Diaspora from Cuba to India to Tahiti & Beyond”, as well as three Jewish travel guides, which are all available on Amazon.com
This class was presented at the National Jewish Retreat.

he does not give accurate information about cuba. the shochet in cuba is a goy! the “orhtodox” shul is run by a goy. the “rabbi” from chile made giyur to goyim so that they could get meat from the shochet. there is no established religious lifestyle. there are yidden and there are those who say they are yidden but are goyim. 99 percent assimilation. so i dont know what yiddishkeit he saw there.

the comment was sent before i concluded. the only authentic yiddishkeit in cuba today, is what the cfcj coordinates. for more information please visit chabadcuba.org
