Aliya, which has been reaching into Crown Heights youth for almost 9 years now, has over 50 alumni in the IDF. Every draft for the Israeli Army attracts more members than the previous one. It was time to pay them a visit.

Fortunately, thanks to devoted staff and volunteers of Aliya, including Zaki Tamir and Rabbi Yechiel Goldstein who ran this year’s very successful Megillah readings and purim seuda at Aliya, Rabbi Feiglin was able to make a memorable Purim for Aliya’s members fighting in Israel for our country.

As it turned out far more people showed up to Aliya’s Yerushalayim Purim party than ever imagined. The energy was palpable! Approximately 40 guys showed up to hear Megillah, celebrate Purim and enjoy Aliya’s famous warm and friendly vibe in Israel.

Some members were not able to get off base for Purim (which was Monday in Yerushalayim) and therefore a Shabbos day meal/farbrengen was also arranged for another 15 guys.

All who came commented how grateful they were and how much it mean to them that Aliya arranged this event for them and didn’t forget about them.

One member, Sholom Lakein, shared publicly how the Chabadniks who join the Army earn special respect from their commanders and fellow soldiers as they choose to come on their own. They also always make into the elite divisions. He also mentioned how they all gained a new pride in being Chabad Chassidim and carry a picture of the Rebbe together with their Army ID, so when asked to show their ID they also show the Rebbe.
