Video: Mikvah Construction Gains Traction

Construction of the Mei Chaya Mushka Womans Mikvah, on Lefferts and Troy, started gaining traction with construction workers hard at work today, putting in the support beams, for what will become the foundation of the new Mikvah.

We spoke with Abe Rosenzwieg, who is a seismic surveyor, that kept watch and made sure that the structures around the area of the pile driver remained safe, he took some time and explained to me what it is that he does.

How did he get that vehicle in between those buildings? more importantly how is going to get it out without hitting the sides?

we need a mikvah but not there could not find another place? it should be at the edge of town.

That explains the loud banging I heard from a block away. But my house was vibrating and floor shaking every time that thing banged into the ground. seismic i guess its called.

right! at the edge of town, so this way women straight out of the mikvah can get mugged.
and please correct me if im wrong but this seems to be as comfortably on the edge of town as possible. any further and you’re in brownsville

  • terrifying sound

We heard this absolutely horrifying noise, if you can even call it that, as we were walking past on the way to school and my kids were terrified. As we neared and realized where it was coming from, all I kept thinking was: “I feel bad for all those living nearby!”

Do any of you people realize that Williamsburg and Brownsville are in completely the opposite direction?

This is no longer the edge of Crown Heights. Over 20 years ago when the Lefferts condos were built, one of the developers went to the Rebbe for a bracha and the Rebbe told him “Lefferts Avenue will become the center of Crown Heights.” If you look around you can see that it’s true. People are living on East NY and way beyond. East NY, Maple, Rutland, MIdwood…. and farther. Our two largest girls’ schools are located where? One on Lefferts, one on East NY! From Lefferts to Eastern Parkway is 7 blocks. Beyond Lefferts in the other direction there are Yiddin at least 5 blocks down. So, my friends, this is the CENTER of Crown Heights, not the edge. Get used to it!

  • Maple Street

This is no longer the “edge of town.” It is the middle of town. East New York has a huge number of Yidden. Maple Street is 3/4 Jewish. (we counted.) And futher down yet, in the last few months, several families have moved onto Midwood Street, as well as east of Troy, even down here. CH no longer ends at Empire. Come visit sometime!

Oy, what about Milstein’s Pharmacy just across the street – or am I dating myself?

to number 6 for your information the location of the new Mikvah is closer to East Flatbush rather than Brownsville.
the neighborhood is very Jewish and if you watch even on Albany and Union one could get mugged just as easy. We could permits for Police watch like they have on Union

  • the whole building-s back windows

    will have wonderful views…
    talk about privacy
not the best location at all….
