Video: G-d Wants you to be A Jewish Environmentalist

Rabbi Chaim Mentz, of Chabad of Bel Air, speaks in his video series ‘Basic Judaisim’ how how G-d wants us to be Jewish Enviromentalists.

What is the purpose of doing Mitzvah. What is the Goal? Each Mitzvah we do is like we are cleaning up the world of Spiritual Negativity.

    Chaim, well said!

One suggestion: Take off the sunglasses when you shoot these clips. Don’t hide your great eyes — they’re 80% of the message!

  • Corny

A loud New Yorker that can’t speak english is really going to get them to due teshuvah.

  • At Corny

i appreciate your cynicism and sophistication, i’m sure you’re a lot better than rabbi mentz at getting out the message. i really do.

Turns out though that Rabbi Mentz has hundreds of non-frum jews in one of the most posh cities in california, Bel Air, which is like if Beverly Hills is Arich, Bel Air is Atik, who flock to his shul and have increased the jewish observance because of him. again, i appreciate your view but you might want to reconsider in light of the above salient and verifiable facts.

G-d bless you Mr. Corny and may we hear good news from all sectors.

PS Michael Savage is a loud New Yorker what also can’t speak english and is one of the most successful radio talk show hosts in the world. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

  • Stop criticizing!

#3 You are right. A sarcastic commenter on a blog who doesn’t know grammar will do much more good.

Keep up the great work Rabbi Mentz! Very hartzig…devorim hayotzim min halev…!
May you have hatzlacha muflaga in all you do!

  • to #4

To #4 ments has all these people there just b.c. he is there not b.c. of who he is! i agree with #3 he is an out dated corny guy that makes alotof noise. but the non frum guy tjat dosent know him just sees a rabbi that is in their area, and from a guy i know in the area they say if he would really belive all he says he would get alot more done. so dont compare him to michel savage!! michel belives and acts apon what is right, and its the people that came to HIM

rabbi mentz continue your great work!! and to all the negative NUMBERS!! find something nice to say… NOT ALWAYS LOOKING for a negetive comment!

What are you talking about? How could any shliach be successful, just because he is there. Reform Jews do not put down money because a chabad rabbi is just there. They need to believe in the rabbi! He has to impress them in order for them to contribute, and be part of his shul.

Mentz attracts them because of who he is. I worked for him years ago, and I can tell you, his success is because of everything he believes in. How many shluchim have over 1000 people paying hundreds of dollars for high holiday services? They could go to any reform temple and sit with their spouse, but choose him. You heard from a guy in his neighborhood? What about the hundreds who love him?

This video is very entertaining, clear and concise. Exactly what Lubavitch needs more of.

  • at #6, the maven on shlichus

I appreciate your expertise on how shlichus works, and i assume you must be a very successful shliach yourself to speak with such confidence and authority on a matter you clearly know nothing about.

Not all shluchim attract big numbers just because they showed up in town. Anyone can attract a certain type of crowd, the type that will show up for anything with free food. That’s probably the type you would attract if you went on shlichus. Thankfully, it doesn’t look like that that’s your chosen profession.

Rabbi Mentz happens to be one of the more successful shluchim. Why? Because instead of knocking people he looks for the good in them. Instead of wasting his time, he goes with energy to reach out and teach. He is very outgoing, friendly and filled with TOICHEN.

On his behalf, i await your apology. You may also apologize for Corny, while you’re at it.

  • hey #10 (ments)

Ments gets the overflow crowd of the reform shuls in the area. and they dont come during the year to ments. those people would rather stay in the area and not go to another reform in another area, they feel it would downgrade their status. if u wanna open a good business then open a reform shul in that are.
