JNTV, the Australian Jewish news network caught up with the rabbi while he was in Sydney, where he shared some of his views.

Renowned Chabad Lubavitch Rabbi Immanuel Schochet visited Australia recently as a guest of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria.

The Toronto-based rabbi and Doctor of Philosophy has written over 30 books and lectures extensively on Jewish ethics and theology.

    I and several friends had the pleasure of meeting and learning with Rabbi Schochet several years ago at a shabbaton organized by Rabbi Yossi Wilhelm with Chabad of Knoxville. I’ve been a great admirer of Rabbi Schochet ever since. Since I’m unable to travel to Toronto, I keep up with Rabbi Schochet’s writings and audio lectures on Chabad.org.

  • Genetic geniuses

    It seems that the entire Schochet family is composed from geniuses, lecturers, authors and leaders of the pack. All are high profile over-achievers with triple digit I.Q.’s. I suspect it is genetic – unless it’s something in the Toronto water. It’s not fair!

    I am limited to an IQ of 100 – more than that is beyond my understanding.

    The Schochets have this amazing talent of taking very deep and complicated concepts and making them so simplified that anyone – even I, can understand it.

    And most impressed that they are sooo humble, acting like normal ordinary people.
