  • you guys

I strongly believe that this lacks the proper respect for the Torah. We are sometimes overeager to attract people from all walks of life and although our intentions are good the long term effect is the opposite.
Others might see this video different I think it’s too “cool”.
Great videos were the Larry David shul tickets. This one is a disresopectful circus. We do not teach people to run around in parks passing torahs around.my opinion
you guys in Conejo do great work ,better than most and are succsessful at it,just dont lose sight of the goal line.

    I am disappointed.

Is the holy Sefer Torah treated like a football that is passed amongst players on the team? I have never experienced a video that treats a Sefer Torah with such irreverance.

Of note, at the end of the video, the holy Sefer Torah morphs into an icecream cone which the rabbi passes to his child. Is the message to equate Torah with icecream – an unhealthy, non-essential junk food??

If this video would have been produced by a snag kiruv org – we’d be howling hysterically and laughing AT them.
Would anyone imagine the Rebbe approving of such a video???

  • Smile be happy

its just a video, they didn’t use a real Torah.
    its a example.
we should spread Torah with our Hearts and minds.

“its just a video, they didn’t use a real Torah” oh, I see, so I guess you are saying that in a video it’s okay to disrespect a sefer torah – if they don’t use a real Torah.

    Let’s follow your logic:

Do you also think if it’s just a video and they don’t use real blood and body parts – then it’s okay to show gory violence?

If it’s just a video and they don’t use real Jews then it’s okay to make fun of Jews and mistreat them?
Would you still :Smile and be happy”??

  • Kedushas Sefer Torah

It made me cringe to see a Torah (which I think even not-yet religious Jews recognize belongs in a Shul) being passed around a football field and together with a horse. Al Pi Halacha A Torah should not be removed from a shul except for a Mitva.
I think a different method of getting the message over should have been used.
The Rebbe always emphasized bringing the Yidden to the Torah not the Torah to Yidden (ie. not lowering it ).
Wishing everyone Kabbolas HaTorah BeSimcha UbePnimiyus.

How can they have a Rabbi condoning Oichel Bashuk — with an ice cream clearly outside???? Is this the message that we want to send to our kids? Is this really how low we have fallen?

  • Concerned

Waaay beyond Yidishe boundaries! What a decrease! Is That the way we educate our kids, our community, ourselves!? – This is pretty bad!

  • torah love

above comm enters are pathetic how are you getting confused between a football and a Torah scroll.
