Business Quotes Hitler on Sign Sparks Outrage

HARLINGEN, Texas — The marquee outside Ja Mar printing in Harlingen on Monday read: “It is not truth that matters but victory,” with A Hitler written underneath.

Those words are considered by many to be from the most evil man ever to walk the earth. So why would the owner display a quotation from Adolph Hitler on a street sign of the business? Valley veterans turned to Action 4 News with that very question on the Listens Line.

“It is very disrespectful… It’s a slap in the face to all veterans because they went through hell,” Arturo “Treto” Garza said.

Hitler caused the deaths of millions of Jews in what’s known as the Holocaust. His rule over Nazi Germany sparked World War II. Hundreds of thousands of Americans lost their lives fighting to end his tyranny.

Hitler’s statement on display underneath an American flag outside Ja Mar had people calling for a boycott of the print shop on 925 South 77 Sunshine Strip.

“I wouldn’t touch this place,“ Garza said.

But the man who put the Hitler quotation on display said his message was misunderstood.

”My intent was to let them know our government seems to have the same government as Adolph Hitler… At this point… They don’t care about the truth… They’ll tell you whatever they want to get legislation passed to satisfy their needs,“ Brent Hunter said.

And while Hunter strongly believes in free speech, he did not mean to cross the line with veterans.

”I’m sorry if I offended any veteran… That was not my intent… My father was a WWII veteran and my son serves in Afghanistan right now,” Hunter said.

Shortly after Hunter interviewed with Action 4 News, he removed Hitler’s message from the marquee.

  • Some true words

“They’ll tell you whatever they want to get legislation passed to satisfy their needs,“ Brent Hunter said.

After all is said and done that appears to be the truth!

  • In Proper Context

Now that he explained the context of placing up that quote, I agree with the business owner. He is evoking Hitler to open up America’s eyes to which philosophy Obama is following. Obama engages in propaganda much in the same way that the nazis had. True Obama’s agenda is more benign than hitlers’ but some of the tactics are right out of Nazi playbooks.
