The Rebbe Maharash once threatened the Russian government that if they didn’t repeal a certain gezeira he would move to Eretz Yisroel, and take 300,000 (I think) chassidim with him.
When BILU started, the Rebbe Nishmoso Eden said that had they added the next two words, “Be’or Hashem”, to their name, he would have joined them.
In the last year of his life the Rebbe Nishmoso Eden prepared to move to Turkey, but at the last minute he decided to stay in Russia. The photo that we have was taken for his passport for that move.
