    We need to truly, truly salute all of our shluchim and other Chabadnikim, and all Yidden who are remaining in Venezuela, despite all that’s been going on there to threaten the day-to-day wellbeing of Jews there.

    There have been recent incidents of vandalism at shuls. And, every time oil revenues go down for any reason, the nut-case president, Hugo Chavez (yemach shemo), speaks out and criticizes Israel and Jews (”Israelitas,” in Venezuelan Spanish, so every time the Pres. criticizes Israel, he’s criticizing all Jews by implication).
    And, if you think you’ve got it tough keeping Kosher in a remote area, how would you like it if, on top of that, you could never be sure you could would be able to obtain sugar, or eggs, or other staple foods, because the Venezuelan government (AKA President Chavez) is socializing (and messing up the economics and distribution of) many commodities!

    If it all sounds like Russia under the Soviets, well, please Hashem it shouldn’t go that far, but Venezuela is not what it used to be. There’s no telling where the country will ultimately end up.

    So, any chance you get to give chizuk to our Yiddishe brothers and sisters in Venezuela, please be there for them! They are truly courageous.
