The recently released Mayer Rivkin Music Video “It Happened Yom Kippur”, revived by Infinity Productions, will soon be sent out in HD DVD form, to over 1000 Shluchim throughout the United States. A colorful attractive jacket and packaging with original graphic art-work, was prepared for this music video. The song was composed and the lyrics written during the summer of 1974 at Camp Gan Israel, Montreal, Canada. It describes a young Israeli soldier in a conversation with his father, as he prepares to go into battle.

The project is being made possible with the generous grant from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. His intension, is that this production be freely available to Shluchim of the Rebbe and to all who would be impacted and inspired by its message.

Also, “The Promise” a brand new Rivkin Music Video is now being completed, with the producers scrambling, hoping to meet the release deadlines which will enable them to include it as a second item on the menu of the new DVD. In this new music video, Mayer Rivkin sings the well known Chabad melody (known to many as “Yaaleh”) composed by the great Chossid and Baal Menagen (vocalist), Rabbi Sholom Charitonov, z”l, with added English lyrics, written during the summer of 1991 at Camp Gan Israel, Detroit, Michigan. The heart wrenching tune, lyrics and images, illustrate the pain and confusion of this long exile and the unfaltering faith with which Jews proclaim: “Hashem made a Promise – we will be redeemed…Moshiach will come to fulfill our dream.”

Both of these songs are from the forthcoming, long awaited new 13 English song CD album entitled “REDEMPTION.” The reason for the name change from the original “Wake Up Yidden” as described by the producers is, “because every single one of the 13 songs denotes the trails and tribulations of the long bitter exile, together with the yearning, hope and demand for the immediate Redemption.”

  • saw it before... but still a great video

would love to hear at least a sampling of this new song. thanks to the sponsor for making this available to the shluchim. what a great idea. they should take advantage of this generous gesture and offer these dvd’s as door prizes at their fund raising events.

Is that supposed to be the Suez Canal? Cover is very pleasing to the eye and looks realistic. Good job.

  • SUMMER OF 1991: CROWN HEIGHTS POGROMS!

THIS NEW RIVKIN SONG “THE PROMISE” WAS WRITTEN IN GAN YISROEL, DETROIT, DURING THE SUMMER OF THE CROWN HEIGHTS RIOTS. WAS THIS JUST A COINCEDENCE, OR ARE THE REFERENCES TO MOSHIACH AND GEULAH ON PURPOSE? I WONDER…

  • sidetracked!

looking forward to the new music video. if its anything like this one, its worth the wait. i think though, that rivkin is being sidetracked by these new projects and not finishing up on his new english album. does he think he is like avrohom freid that he can take 3 years between albums? sorry reb meyer, great voice, talented movie maker, but making us wait much too long for your new cd.

a fan, but a bit disappointed.

  • it was changed

the word from a member of the production team, is that mayer rerecorded that song (wake up yidden) and sings “Rebbe Shlita.” on the final CD track. I heard it directly from him. I hear they also added more vocals for his son.
