Video Surveillance Captures Erev Yom Tov Accident
Security cameras outside Apple Drugs captures the Erev Yom Tov Hit-n-Run crash where a boy slipped into the street and had his leg run over by the rear wheels of a car.
From the footage its easy to ascertain that the offending vehicle is an older model Black BMW 5 or 7 series. The driver did not stop, but its possible he did not know he even ran the boy over.
At about 15 seconds into the clip you can see the boy run down Crown and make a sharp turn up Kingston and then try to stop but due to the wet pavement he slipped and his foot went under the car.
The surveillance system was installed by Mezuri Systems, a local Lubavitcher owned security company.

Trucks should not be allowed to park and unload at the corner. Children and adults CANNOT see the oncoming cars and neither can the drivers see people at the crosswalk. The truck in this case was so forward that the little 10 year old boy could not even see the crossing sign – which he is careful to look for before crossing.
This is a residential neighborhood. Stores should be courteous and have their trucks unload a few 100 feet in from the corner so that people/drivers have clear vision of the streets.
B”H he wasn’t seriously injured.
A big Thank You to all those who helped care for him! We appreciate their stopping their hectic schedules to help our son.
To those nasty commentors – Al tadin es chavercha ad shetagiah limkoma.
If the majority of our community would be more caring and less judgemental – maybe we’d be zoche to Moshiach.
The Beis Hamikdosh was destroyed because of Sinas Chinom – not lack of tznius. Let’s be happy for each other’s joys and caring in times of trouble.
To the mother who doesn’t let children cross – it’s high time you teach your 10 year old to cross the street. (Accidents happen – and if it’s Hashem’s will, a car can jump the curb – or land in a storefront i.e. Chanuka 5 towns.)
May this website only have good news to share in the future!

The Rebbe didnt want to say it
i myself come from Holocaust survivors
think about it
sinas chinum is the thing that can destroy a beautiful reputation someone built for his or her whole life, and all it takes is some dude to taint it with “did you hear….”
that is more powerful than any weapon.
so is it any wonder why the punishment is so severe.
so if Hashem destroyed BH #1, and BG #2 bc of sinas chinom,
is it so far fetched that the holocaust was so bc of it.
not a comfortable thought, but one that is definite food for thought.
STOP THE BAD MOUTHING
ENUF IS ENUF.
a parent
viewers disscression should be advised
not his fault
In defense of the car that hit the child, from the video surveillance, it really looks like the car did not even know what happened, since the child slipped quite a distance and was well below the car level.
Boruch Hashem a million times over that the child is OK.
chicken
From this we see how many people cross on the red light. Why cant people just wait the extra minute. Why see if you can make it through the light before the car comes from the next block??????????
why cant peole just wait for the light. Kids are careful to wait and they see adults just breezing through the red light because they must make it across the street now and not 12 seconds later!!!!!!!!!!!
always obey traffic laws
B”H everything is okay.
I just want to comment that the truck driver is not to blame either. we should all learn to cross when we have the right of way. and that is when the light turns green for pedestrians.
mother too
What nasty comments? I missed something?
Glad to hear your son is doing OK. Mamash a neis! I agree with you about trucks, especially those chicken delivery trucks are a problem. I live on that block, they are really inconsiderate when they park.
Be careful
The child was not waiting for the sign to change before crossing. He was running not slipping into the street. You can see another child also running after him. The driver might have thought the street was uneven, and kept going. Boruch Hashem he is okay. Children have to wait on the sidewalk before crossing. Even when there was a truck, he should have waited on the sidewalk for the light to change.
C-mon
I don’t understand how this has anything to do with the parked truck? It is clear that the child ran into the street while the cars had the green light. How do people always find a way to put their mistakes on others?
Yosy
It’s amazing to see how many people are crossing on the red light! Shomer Pesaim Hashem!!
CM
I don’t think the car saw…
I hope they teach kids in school to be more careful…
Boy was being chased?
It appears an older bigger person chased the boy in the street!
CAN-T BE TOO CAREFUL
CM, ARE YOU FOR REAL??? YOU HOPE THEY TEACH THE KIDS IN SCHOOL TO BE MORE CAREFUL???!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE P ARENTS? DO THEY ALSO HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO TEACH THEIR OWN FLESH AND BLOOD? I STILL SAY THE PARENTS HERE ARE WAY TOOOOOOO LACADASICAL AND EASY GOING WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR CHILDRENS SAFETY. IT CAN GIVE ONE THE FEELING THAT THEY ARE THINKING “AS LONG AS THE KIDS OFF MY BACK I’M HAPPY”. I ONLY POINT THIS OUT BECAUSE IT BOTHERS ME TERRIBLY WHEN I SEE THESE POOR INNOCENT LITTLE NESHAMALACH GETTING HURT BECAUSE OF THEIR PARENTS;’S NEGLIGENCE.

kids should know that if there is a truck they wait till it is green not trucks shouldnt park there.
yossi
B’H the child is ok.
I agree with the mothers comments… But there is no reason to add the 4 words ‘not lack of tznius’.
One mitzva and halacha doesn’t push away another.
Both are extremely important – tznius and ahavas yisroel.
mantic
This appears to be a sad accident that could have been prevented.
Children need to be taught, and adults reminded of the dangers of intersections and respecting the laws thereof.
I may be wrong, but I believe that the truck was in violation of being parked on a residential street.
The truck did not have a direct influence in this accident. The child was sliding below eye level of the driver. However, had the truck not been there, both the driver and the child’s peripheral would not have been blocked and their and awareness to the surroundings and reaction times would have been better.
