Just goes to show many of the NYC police officers are a bunch of golems who haven’t gotten any smarter nor more civil since 112 years ago when they arrested the Rabbi for making Bircas HaChama w/o a public assembly permit.

Don’t they give cops IQ tests?
Crazy!
poor guy, poor wife and family.

Sick people. I hope they can sue.

Arresting people for minor offenses is Giuliani’s policy – that’s how he achieved the big drop in crime. All you people who admire him, this is what you’re so excited about. Or are you only excited when the price is paid by people you don’t know?
What’s outrageous is not the arrest but that the cops who came to the house didn’t bother to check whether he was arrested. The police dep’t was quoted as saying they wouldn’t necessarily know; that’s perfectly true, but couldn’t they call back to the precinct and ask? And when the arresting officers couldn’t get a local number to call, they should certainly have made sure the front desk had his name and details, so if anyone called they could tell them what had happened. That way the cops wouldn’t even have been sent to her house in the first place; she would have been told as soon as she called.
sue them!
No wonder with such DUMB police real crime is up….
They arrest the good guys…..
Morons….

Guys,
I did my part,I called the precint and told them that I realize why they are so busy:Arresting people for nonsense!
Call,please! their number is 718 735 0511.Be respectful , but forceful!
Millhouse, stop your insane apologetics for these “bullies in blue”.“Minor offenses” that cause crime are people aggresively panhandling, dodging fares, public urination etc, not a clean cut fellow riding a bike!
You should become the spokesman/apologist for the NYPD.
Zalman Shimon.

milhouse is right. the way guliani cut back on crime was by stopping small crimes like ppl jumping over subway turnstyles. the outrageous part is that his wifi didnt know….
Angry Tax-payer
STUPID STUPID COPS!!!!!!!!!!
Is this what I pay taxes for?
SHAME ON NYPD
INSTEAD OF GOING AFTER VIOLENT CRIMINALS, YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER WHAT TO DO THEN TO GO AFTER INNOCENT SIMPLE PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU THINK WE WON’T FIGHT BACK).
AT LEAST HAVE SOME COURTESY.

If this guy hit your kid or grandma with his bike – you’d all be hollering that the police should enforce the law against riding bikes on the sidewalk.
I have no spare love for cops, but neither do I have much patients for fools.
Maybe the community deserves what it gets.

“quality of life crimes,” how about the noise/rap/music coming from inside and outside of the buildings at ALL hours of the night. try calling the police or 311 for that; let me tell you from experience, nothing happens.
or what about all those “young men” loitering in front of buildings and street corners harassing people (mostly women) walking by???
hmmm, i respect the cops and their job and thank them for their security but this arrest and story is insane.
You know me!!!
Hey anyone ever hear of someone riding there bike on the sidewalk and swipe a womens handbag, and coutinue riding away? This is why it is enforced stop the crime before it happens this is what different gangs do.. So when criminals see the police are enforcing this they will think twice about riding a bike on the sidewalk..For everyone who also likes to talk alot and call the cops dumb, You all seem to very intelligent on the computer see how many deaths there are caused by bicycliest on sidewalks hitting pedestrians in NYC…I have actually lost an uncle 3 years ago by that. This is a law that needs to be enforced
