For the record: This film was shot by Hatomim Berel Gross, brother of Harav Elye Gross Z’L. Yud Alef Shvat 5710.

Wasn’t he the same person that wrote much of the book Y’May B’Breishis? The sefer details a alot of what happened yud shvat 1950.

To: Noteh, I think that you are factually mistaken. It was a member of the Goldstien family that had this film in their archives all this time.

To: Sholom Ber: Factually, the story is written in Yimei Bereishis how the Rebbe had heard how Elye Gross had the film (taken by his brother, Berel)and the Rebbe had called Elye Gross into his office along with one of the Baumgarten’s and asked Elye Gross to run the film. Thereafter, the Rebbe “rewarded Elye Gross by showing him a film of the Friediker Rebbe’s first trip to the US. It’s all written in Yimei Bereishis.

Fact is: many years later when Elye Gross was ill, one of the Goldstiens had come to ”peruse” Elye Gross’s films – yet, since then, the Gross family were not able to locate certain films…

There were so few beards and kapotes, and so few of the hats were black then. And it didn’t look like there were many sheitels in the group either — some ladies were in hats, and I saw at least one tichel. Yet we’ve come back strong!

    This alone is encouraging.

Thank you for showing this slice of our history and life as Lubavitchers.
