At staples CENTER! the place the lakers and clippers play basketball, and the kings play hockey
Shocked!?!?!?
what in the world? is this supposed to be a spoof-making fun of all the good Chabad does?
1. u dont say lihadlk ner SHEL Chanukah in our nusach
2. u dont say Shehecheyanu on the SECOND night of Chanukah 3. we sing haneiros halalu right after lighting
4. these guys dont even know the words to maoz tzur
5. “…the Rabbi & his wife were murdered and his kid got saved-yah” this was said in such an off-hand, insensitive way
i don’t know who these guys are but they should be ashamed of themselves of undermining the significance of this holiday.
honk
the only serious guy in this video is the guy in the car. i like the idea of “Honk for Chanukah” i think i’m gonna put it on my car!!
your favorite learning teacher!
go jj you are the best!

Obviously this guy Elie Seckbach was familiar with Chanukah but isn’t a Lubavitcher. He wanted to say the Berocha and sing the songs that he knew. The two young boys (they seem about 13) tried their best to accommodate him and make him feel good on Chanukah even if they didn’t know the words to moaz tzur and the nusach of the Brocha was different. Also, it was his first time lighting the candles so they made a Shehecheyonu with him.About referring to Moshe’le Holtzberg that was saved, if you pay attention you will see that that spot on the video was spliced and there was some other conversation going on before that.
Instead of criticizing young kids that are out maybe for the first time doing Mivtzoim on Chanukah, praise them for being outside the Staples Center doing Mivtzoim instead of being inside Staples Center watching the game!
Would all you criticizers also write where YOU went on mivtzoim on Chanukah?
detroiter
@ shocked, i am shocked to see that there is still people like you that have the oddasity to criticize all the good work that these young bochurim are doing! these are kids who could of been sitting at home typing negative comments on the computer lkike your self and instead take it to the streets to do mivtzah chanukah like the rebbe wants and you come and criticize?! shame on you! as for your big halachic questions im sure doing mivtzoim the way they are gives more pleasure to the rebbe than your negativity! moshiach now!
elie seckbach
my mother always told me “if you dont have something good to say, dont say it”
plus, instead of criticizing get off your backside and go do it the way you like.

Zalmy and JJ: The first simun in Shulchon Oruch talks about not being affected by those that mock goodness. Don’t be discouraged by people who see negative when you do positive. All of us are proud that you spent your free time going on Mivtzoim.
You are a living example of the Chanuka Menora – lighting the darkness outside.
I hope that others will learn from two 13 year olds who spend their free time doing what the Rebbe wants us to do.
Thank you Elie Seckbach for making a kidush hashem by publicizing what these boys are doing.

All you naysayers, go someplace else and have an angry convention! Enough said about that. It was great. The cute boys were a little off-tune, and that added to the charm. The Staples employee looked thrilled to be part of the Jewish ritual. And that’s the goal.
Again, kudos to you for a lovely and lively video. How do you discover all the places that appear on the CHI? Thank you!

I thought it was a great video. these young boys could have been home doing who knows what , but they went out and did mivztoyim. that’s what the Rebbe talks about all the time.
My little 3 yr old was so excited when they started singing the Dreidel song. I also love it at the end where the bochur was very enthused and telling others to do mivztoyim.
Good job!
other mivtzoim bochur

when i watched this i said to my self i hope that the negativity has stopped on this sight and the lubavichers for sure should know its a time of unity and bringing light into this world not making it darker!!!!!!!! great job boys!!!!!!!!! moshiach now!
confused
….it’s doesn’t bother me that much that this guy says a brocha in a different nusach, doesn’t know the words to the song or is commercializing on a terrible tragedy in an insensitive way….what’s wrong with this video is that lighting a personal menorah on the asphalt of a shopping center in public does not give a positive vibe nor good PR aka pirsumei nisah for the mitzvah it’s more of a mockery and a disgrace… I see that our youth that are getting caught up in the excitement of standing out and being “in your face” without the sensitivity of the true meaning of what they’re doing and what the effect is supposed to be.
cunfused
….oops..I just re-watched the video and I see it in a different context than before…I’ll take that back

CML
Adorable!!!

Good job boys! Keep up your good work. You are helping Moshiach come sooner.
The Easy Button
How can anyone in their right mind be caught up in caring what Brachos were said? Or if Haneiros halalu was sung? Who cares?? The fact is that they lit the Menorah at Staples Center. For the uneducated poster who brought this up, this venue is one of the most famous arenas in the country. It is in the middle of a huge expansion of downtown LA all around it. The amount of people who go by this place is..well, lets just say a lot. Lets focus on the positives of this act, of which their are many, and not look to criticize.
