The theme of the speech was unity and religious freedom; The famous line that was repeated over and over again: Yes, We Can!

The Shliach: Rabbi Moshe D. Bryski, September 2001 – this years keynote speaker at the Kinus banquet.

That is why we drafted Rabbi Bryski to brighten our studio with his famous line and give a powerful enthusiasm to the Chanukah video.

The video clip was produced by Jewish Abstract Media with Chabad of Malibu. It features many Jewish YouTube celebrities, including Chabads very own Mendy Pellin and star of the Onion youtube hit Adam Kaufman (vocals).

Chanukah 2008 – Lyrics:

It was the bold encouragement offered by Moses to a nation yearning for freedom Yes, we can!

It was spoken defiantly to those wishing to stamp out religious freedoms – Yes we can

THIS was the message that G-d sent the world when a small team of Maccabees vanquished an entire army – Yes we can – Yes we can

And was the comforting answer to the Jews in Communist Russia who wondered: Will the Menorah ever shine in my life

– Yes. We. Can.

On Chanukah we celebrate freedom we celebrate with pride we celebrate in public, in the open because we can! Whether you lit the menorah last year, or 20 years ago celebrate this Chanukah with family celebrate with Chabad

    unbelievable that a jew named david axelrod stole the stupid ‘yes we can” slogan which captured the minds of the most brainless citizens in america including jews who insist on publishing their op-eds on why hussein obama is the amazing one just because he gives them a good feeling.

    Just my little feedback about the video

    Even though the election is over
    does not mean tensions have died down
    I still dont want Obama
    and I still ‘brech’ when I as well as all other Republicans hear the words Yes We Can
    and therefore
    at least for our Chabad House
    I dont think we would be getting this video

    Maybe you are a Republican but, i can garantee you- that most of your congregants are not. And if this is what will draw them closer to yidishkeit then it doesnt matter what political views you might have.
    Just soemtimes.. we must rem to look at things threw the eyes of the viewers we are trying to attract. Think about that one…

    There was a song by Alan Toussaint that was made very popular by the Pointer Sisters in the 70’s. The name of it was “Yes, we can”. The chorus went.“ Yes we can can, yes we can, great gosh almighty yes we can!” Somne of the verse was, “I know we can make it, I know darn well we can work it out.”
