Dear Rabbi Yosef Y. Jacobson,
You gave us additional perspective and few questions came up to the surface:
Are Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, heroes or losers?
Did they acknowledge at the very beginning the consequences of their actions?
If so, what kind of heroism they presented: fulminate death from a God’s kiss is nothing in compeering with everyday challenges making a person feels accusation of death penalty every time he faces cruel reality?
Aaron had to have them marred before that happened. Then this topic would be closed and extended complications wouldn’t take place in our days, when computerized children with their computer games rather prefer live virtual life than face reality.
Man has to have woman (a real resident of king palace) at his site; then he would not need additional commandment to behave himself.
New commandment created new temptations!
Thank you for interesting insight!
