With the 15th anniversary of 9/11 upon us, did the Rebbe say anything that can help us understand 9/11 and today’s war on terror?

Is the world actually accomplishing anything in their war on terror. It’s 15 years later and there’s still, if not more prevalent, a tangible terror that plagues most of the globe. Is the war on terror a hopeless fight? Is the world missing the key to combatting it properly? Can you please shed some light on this issue?

If scientific knowledge is a byproduct of the revelation of Chassidus, then why does it seem that scientific development is taking the lead? Why hasn’t there been any new revelations of Chassidus in the past 25 years, yet there’s so much scientific discovery?

Is it realistic and possible to being constantly conscious and aware of Elokus and a higher purpose within everything? Is there something one can one do to maintain that awareness or is that a life reserved for Tzaddikim only?

In addition to these topics, Rabbi Jacobson will also review the following essays submitted in this year’s MyLife: Chassidus Applied essay contest: “Advice to Men for Shana Rishonah” by Yechezkal Shimon Gutfreund, “Mindfulness and Moshiach” by Yochi Ress, and “Personal Liberty and Happiness” by Shneor Cohen. These and other essays can be read online at meaningfullife.com/essays.

And finally, the Chassidus question of the week:  Chassidus teaches us that various giluyim radiate in this material world at different times of the year. When we don Tefillin, for example, we draw down the giluyim of mochin. The giluiim of binah radiate on Sukkot. On Shabbos malchus is revealed. The 13 midos harachamim shine in the month of Elul. We are also taught that our actions and mitzvot draw down different giluyim of ohr ein sof. What does this mean? To the naked eye the world looks the same on Shabbos as it does on Tuesday or any weekday. We learn about these giluyim; but we don’t see them though. Do they have a direct effect on us? Do we simply have to believe that this is so, or can we actually experience it? Is it enough to just know of their existence or is it something that must be experienced? What does a giluy mean to us in olam hazeh hagashmi?

This hour-long dose of insights is meant to inform, inspire and empower us by applying the teachings of Chassidus to help us face practical and emotional challenges and difficulties in our personal lives and relationships. In what has now become a staple in so many people’s lives, MyLife: Chassidus Applied addresses questions that many people are afraid to ask and others are afraid to answer. When asked about the sensitive topics he has been addressing, Rabbi Simon Jacobson commented, “I understand that the stakes are high and great care has to be taken when speaking openly, but the silence and lack of clarity on matters plaguing the community can no longer go unaddressed. The stakes of not providing answers are even higher.”

The on-going series has provoked a significant reaction from the community, with thousands of people viewing each live broadcast and hundreds of questions pouring in week after week. At the root of every question and personal challenge tackled by the series is the overarching question: Does Judaism have the answers to my personal dilemmas?

In inimitable “Jacobson-fashion”, the broadcast answers people’s questions in simple, clear language while being heavily sourced. Each episode is jam-packed with eye-opening advice from the Rebbeim, gleaned from uncovering surprising gems in their letters, sichos and maamorim that address our personal issues with disarming relevance. Simultaneously, Rabbi Jacobson is able to crystallize a concept quickly, succinctly, and poignantly for any level of listener.

All episodes are immediately available for viewing in the MLC’s archive and can be downloaded as MP3s for listening on the go.
