8:00pm: Healing from Molestation and Dealing with Violators (Part II)

This week’s edition of MyLife: Chassidus Applied with Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Episode 56, will air tonight, Sunday, here on CrownHeights.info, beginning at 8:00pm. This week Rabbi Jacobson will address the topics: Healing from Molestation and Dealing with Violators (Part II).

How can we best protect our children from being violated? How should we act if we become aware of or we suspect violations? Is it best to speak up or be silent? To whom should we turn? What is our responsibility as a community? What can and should our schools and camps do? With the deep stigma associated with abuse, how can we deal with it in a healthy manner? How can we transform a culture afraid to address the issue of molestation and turn it into to a safe-haven for those who have been violated and a place that forever prevents it from happening again? How can we encourage victims to come forward when previously the common experience for victims was being outcast by the community, shunned, and not believed?

With the topic in the news and numerous comments and feedback coming in, Rabbi Jacobson will continue the discussion about molestation and the crisis of intimacy in our times, elaborating on: What is the Chassidic approach to the recovery process for victims of sexual abuse? How should we deal with predators? Is it helpful to expose violators? How do we deal with them without hurting more innocent people? Should we be protecting the family of a violator?

In episode 56 Rabbi Jacobson will also address: How should we address chutzpah and instill mentchlichkeit in our children? Are the schools responsible for teaching manners and values of respect, or does that come from the home? Can Chassidus be applied toward developing a methodology for conflict management and mediation?

This hour-long dose of insights is meant to inform, inspire and empower us by applying the teachings of Chassidus to help us face practical and emotional challenges and difficulties in our personal lives and relationships.
