Amerika iz Nisht Andresh
Dear Rabbi Miller, I wonder your interpertation of The Frideker Rebbes when on coming upon the shores of America The rebbbe “s famous words Amerika iz nisht Andresh’… Andresh fun der alte Heim I suppose… and all the Alte Heim meant . Doesnt that sound and mean something like Chodosh ossur min hatorah????? Further more as its known Vort in Lubavitch ”A kunst zein a Chossid in Nevel or or Lubavitch or kremschug… ober zein a Chossid ST. Petersburg!!!!!!!!! ????? Which leaves me to beleive on some level Lubavitch as well to use your term“Ghettoization”” was quite content on some level… YES, The FRideker Rebbe sent Chassidim al MESIRAS NEFESH MAMASH to far flung place in Russia to be shoctim melamdin etc….but in so mant ways i see a strong comparison to Amerika iz nisht andresh to Chodosh iz oser min hatorah….because in your words it is a slippery slope….. I once heard by a Chassidhe fsrbregen ” dos vos men tor nisht tor men nit…..und dos vos men meg darf men nisht!!!! That which is not allowed is certainaly not allowed and that which is permissable we shoulnt do/need it!!!I dont think it’s as clear cut as you Rabbi make it… much hatzlocah und a Kesivah Vechassimah Tova Thank YOU
