Mazel tov!
Uh…who is Mendel Berns…..if this is what they do for his Barmitzvah, what do they do for his wedding? Then again, maybe this is normal in C.H. Living in England, I just thought this looked a bit OTT (Over The Top..incase you donot have this saying in America!) I am not “knocking”” this Simcha, well, maybe a little.

It seems that CH residents are joining the ranks of the rest of the world – lavish extravagant bar mitvah affairs that do not reflect the message of the occasion – that a boy is now becoming a responsable adult and a contributing member of the community.
Perhaps it would be more news worthy to post a Bar Mitzvah celebration of a boy who found something meaningful to do for the community as a means of celebration – a mitzvah project; a mivtzoim project – like putting on Tefillin on 500 people in honor of this occasion or donating all money to a soup kitchen – but this? Its message is clearly wrong!

Mazal tov to Mendel Berns. But looking at the pics I agree it does seem way over the top. I’ve been to weddings that were not this lavish.

Stunning and magnificent but i agree over the top and makes people feel bad that they can’t do it.

to all posters.
what was so over the top? a fancy cheep tabelcloth? there was only a chalah on the table.. and some food at the buffet, that was the typical lichayim frozen food.
the only thing that was decent was the front table with all the decorations. get over it. i was there and there very little money spent on the food.

How about this: From now on we distribute all our wealth in the schune so the average living standard will increase slightly!

Message from Holland, Mazal tov Mendel, you seem a wonderfull nice boy. I hope you had a great party!
For all the complainers, please stop! Wish him a genuine mazal tov and stop moaning about the extravagant party. Lets hope a lot of people had a great time and be happy for the family!
