BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — The Jewish community of Buenos Aires dedicated a new orphanage building to the memory of Mrs. Charlotte Rohr, the matriarch of the philanthropic Rohr family who passed away earlier this year.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — The Jewish community of Buenos Aires dedicated a new orphanage building to the memory of Mrs. Charlotte Rohr, the matriarch of the philanthropic Rohr family who passed away earlier this year.

Attendees described the event, which featured the children of the Ieladeinu orphanage singing verses from Psalms, as full of warmth and joy.

Rohr’s husband, businessman Sami Rohr affixed the mezuzah to the new building, dubbed Casa Perla Rohr after Mrs. Charlotte Rohr’s Hebrew name.

Speaking after Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt ñ director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Argentina, which administers the orphanage ñ the Rohrs’ son, George Rohr, explained his family’s dedication to Jews worldwide as rooted in the teachings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory.

    Mrs. Perla Rohr is Mr. Sami Rohr’s mother. His wife’s hebrew name was Sarah. This building seems to be dedicated to The mother and grandmother of Mr. Sami and George Rohr.
