Vladivostok Chanukah Celebration

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia [CHI] — This Chanukah, the Jewish Community of Vladivostok filled the Philharmonic Concert Hall, celebrating the achievements of the past year. The evening’s program included entertainers from all over Russia, culminating with the lighting of the Menorah.

Chief Rabbi Yisroel Silberstein spoke about the message of the Chanuka lights; we must add in light – what was good yesterday, is today no longer satisfactory. We cannot remain satisfied with the past year’s progress. We, as a community, will continue to grow.

The event had significant media coverage.

This was followed by a lavish dinner for dignitaries, celebrating both Chanukah and the Chief Rabbi’s birthday. The governor of the Primorsky Krai, Sergei Darkin, personally called to congratulate the rabbi on his success.
