Students Celebrate Chanukkah North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL [CHI] — On the first night of Chanukah students and community members gathered on the Green at the campus of the University of for a Public Menorah Lighting Ceremony.


Special guest, UNF Vice President of Administration and Finance, Shari Shuman shared well received remarks of support and encouragement. The Jewish Student Union co-sponsored the event – it’s president, Russ Levine introduced the event and informed the crowd of the many ongoing programs and welcomed everyone to participate.

Over 70 people joined together to celebrate and many new faces were seen as well. “We want every student and the entire community to celebrate with each other as family and to recognize that indeed we are all integral parts of the Jewish Community,” said Rabbi Shmuli Novack, Director Chabad of Southside and the Universities.

Following the outdoor event everyone gathered indoors for a Chanukah social event with refreshments, music and Chanukah Cheer.
