Aoun, the university’s seventh president, and the school’s vice president for public affairs, spent more than an hour meeting with Rabbi Shmuel and Chani Posner, co-directors of the Chabad House. The officials learned more about its operations, Chabad-Lubavitch philosophy, and the role of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, in inspiring its emissaries to dedicate their lives to Jewish outreach. Aoun also asked the couple’s nine-year-old son Yisroel if he could read Hebrew, at which point the boy demonstrated his ability by reading and translating a portion from the Torah.

Of particular concern to Aoun was the Chabad House becoming more integrated into the university’s official student life system, a goal he pledged help implement.

Upon their departure, the Posners presented the officials with a copy of Toward a Meaningful Life – The Wisdom of the Lubavitcher Rebbe by Simon Jacobson.
