Belarus Jewish Community Celebrates 1st Brit Mila
Brest, Belarus — This week, the Jewish community of Brest celebrated an event of importance to Jewish life in the region, as well as that of one individual man. 27-year old Gurayev, an active participant in the ‘STARS’ Torah educational program for Jewish youth, had a Brit Mila.
The Mohel visited Brest to perform this operation at the request of Chief Rabbi of Brest Chaim Rabonovich. A festive dinner was held that same evening, complete with kosher meals and the company of family, friends and fellow students from the ‘STARS’ program.
“We are hopeful that the example set by Danie-Moshe will be followed that that other young Jews from our town will be prepared to carry out Jewish national traditions as Avraham Avinu did,” stated Rabbi Chaim Rabinovich, who also serves as a Chabad Lubavitch emissary in this Belarus city.
