Moscow, Russia – The 'Shaarey Tsedek' Charity Center in Moscow has arranged for a variety of summer programming for its clients, mainly elderly Jews. “Our activities are broad ranging, designed to complement those permanent programs offered year-round,” explained Chana Shulkina, the Head of the Leisure Program at 'Shaarey Tsedek'. “Our clients will have the opportunity to attend various lessons, sports and clubs focused on their own specific interests.”

Summer Programs Abet Moscow Jewish Seniors

Moscow, Russia – The ‘Shaarey Tsedek’ Charity Center in Moscow has arranged for a variety of summer programming for its clients, mainly elderly Jews. “Our activities are broad ranging, designed to complement those permanent programs offered year-round,” explained Chana Shulkina, the Head of the Leisure Program at ‘Shaarey Tsedek’. “Our clients will have the opportunity to attend various lessons, sports and clubs focused on their own specific interests.”

For movie lovers, this summer brings the new program ‘Israel on the Screen’. The therapeutic exercise program has expanded and now offers yoga and stretching, as well as Flamenco dancing lessons. One of the new programs – “Medicine without Medication” – was worked out in cooperation with the ‘Rambam’ Medical Center and involves a qualified doctor-physiotherapist.

‘Shaarey Tsedek’ organizes a Vocal Group, Women’s Club, singing and guitar lessons, and Handicrafts/ Design Studio. Foreign language lessons now available include Hebrew, Yiddish, English, German and French. There is a Poetry Club, and guests play chess or table tennis any time they want. Many seniors also spend time here simply to be amongst their peers. The Center also hosts weekly gatherings for Shabbat.

The ‘Shaarey Tsedek’ Center is located in the Marina Roscha neighbourhood of Moscow and is sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
