Religious Construction Projects Runneth Over
Boynton Beach, FL — At Chabad, the new 10,000 square-foot Jewish Early Childhood Center will join the recently opened mikvah on the 3-acre El Clair Ranch Road campus. It is expected to open Aug. 28, with classes for 2- and 3-year-olds. Pre-kindergarten classes will be added the following year.
The upsurge in the Jewish population in the area and waiting lists for schools of this type make it essential to add the facility, which cost more than $1 million, said Rabbi Sholom Ciment.
“Our mission is to teach to the total child in a holistic approach to early childhood education. A fully integrated program will address language arts, science, math, Judaics, motor skills and social/emotional growth,” Head of School Dina Ciment said in a press release.
The school, which features an intimate setting, will keep the student to teacher ratio below average and incorporate several innovative features, according to its director Leslie Cooper.
The classrooms will feature maple, ergonomically correct seats; the playground will include a musical garden, street signs in Hebrew and English, an art area and a garden where children will grow fruits and vegetables, many of which are grown in Israel.
“We seek to create a stimulating and enriching environment and ignite a spark in each child to lay claim to his Jewish heritage and commit him or her to a lifetime passion for learning,” Cooper said.
