Miami Beach Celebrates Lag BaOmer with Parde and Carnival
Miami Beach, FL — A procession of floats, pick-up trucks, flatbeds, kiddy trains and cars led the way, as the greater Miami Beach Jewish community kicked off its Lag B’Omer celebration. Named the “Unity Parade and Carnival,” this year’s celebration brought together all of the local synagogues to observe the festive day as one community.

Escorted by members of the Miami Beach Police force, the floats of mivtzoyim, Jewish concepts and an amazing replica of the Lubavitch Educational Center facility, attracted the attention of hundreds of onlookers, as it made its way slowly up Alton Road, the main Miami Beach thoroughfare. All of the floats, banners and signs were made by the elementary students and mesivta and Yeshiva Gedolah bocherim.
The parade ended at the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center, where an extravagant carnival of free rides, prizes, BBQ and drinks—thanks to the generosity of private sponsors—awaited the parade participants and many hundreds of community members. The highlight of the carnival was a dazzling acrobatic performance by the Miami Heat Extreme Team. An estimated 2,500 to 3,000 people came and went throughout the day, making it the most successful Lag B’Omer event in the history of Miami Beach.

The parade was excellent and the carnival was a huge hit. When people arrived and found out that everything was free, including the rides, BBQ, raffle, and show, they were speechless. Great job from the Jewish Learning Center Chabad House on 41st Street for organizing the carnival and getting all community shuls, Chabad and non-Chabad, together for the event. And dont forget the hard work of the “BBQ Committee”; Bruce, Frank, Harvey, and Yakov. Thanks guys!

Great job JLC and LEC! The floats and parade look absolutely fantastic, and I heard that the carnival was a huge hit. Good news travels fast!
P.S. People dont believe the lashon hara, I’ve been to the JLC on many occasions when I visit Miami, and I believe that what they accomplish there is a Kiddush Lubavitch and gives the Rebbe nachas. Keep it going Yossi!
Nice work!
