The activities commenced with a parade along one of the busiest streets of the city, with the children holding placards calling the residents of the city to add in keeping Torah & Mitzvos. The placards were prepared by the students of Chabad Academy in the city.

Once the parade concluded, the children returned to the Chabad house for a children’s rally led by Rabbi Doron Aizenman, the Rebbe’s Shliach to the city. Prizes were distributed to the participants and a birthday party for two of the school students .

At the end of the rally the bonfire was lit and everyone sat down to enjoy a BBQ meal, sang Lag BaOmer songs and danced around the bonfire.

In accordance with the famous saying of Rabbi Akiva (which is customarily sung during Lag BaOmer): “Ashrechem Yisroel Lifnei Me Atem Metahrim U’Me Eschem” which refers to the purifying of the Jewish nation, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new building (the fourth building of Chabad House complex), specifically for the Mikveh for men which will be built first. The Mikveh was donated by Mr. Dudi Eliyahu in honor of his family, and therefore the Mikveh is called “Mikveh David”.

The new building (which will be ready during the upcoming year) will include ten classrooms, an expanded lunchroom, a Mikveh for men, a Mikveh for women, and more which will help in the ongoing Chabad activities, and help in the growth of the Chabad activities in Myrtle Beach. This is part of the expansion of Chabad of Myrtle Beach in honor of the 20th anniversary of Chabad Lubavitch of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
