Energy Runs High at EnerJew Shabbaton

A massive youth seminar took place in Moscow this past Shabbos, gathering over 250 teenage activists of the EnerJew youth movement together for 5 days of inspiration and learning.

The ‘Grand Shabbaton’ seminar is one of the central events in EnerJew’s calendar, aiming to motivate, educate and inspire members upon returning home for an active and fulfilled year.

This is the first year EnerJew had to divide the seminar into two parts, as the movement’s gotten too big to accommodate a gathering for everyone. The first seminar, which took place this past Shabbos, welcomed participants from 19 cities in Russia and Belarus, while a second seminar for the other 12 cities will take place in December.

The main part of the seminar program is focused on interactive workshops and group activities, led by EnerJew’s young rabbis and club coordinators. “We tried to include a wide variety of topics on Jewish thought relevant for our participants, who are curious about many questions and issues,” said Eliezer Lesovoy, EnerJew’s educational director. The participants, whose age ranges between 13 to 17, will also compete at an initiatives fair. Each city club developed a social Jewish initiative, which will be presented to a jury, and the winners will be awarded a grant for its development. The fair will be translated live this evening on EnerJew’s official Facebook page.

The activists will also spend the Shabbat together, socializing, connecting and getting to know each other better. The seminar concludes Sunday in a central event with the presence of many honorable guests.

The seminar is organized by EnerJew in partnership with the FJC, the Finger ans Leviev foundations, and with the support of Jewish Agency for Israel.
